We bought two items priced at £4.50 each or two for £8.
At the self service check out it took several attempts to scan the first
item. When it scanned my wife put it in her own bag that she had put on
the scale. I told her to take if off as usually in other supermarkets
that produces a warning. The next item would not scan and a warning
notice came up on the screen.
I called an assistant over and she said the system had hung as the item
scanned had been taken off the scale. She reset the screen and we
scanned the items again and up came a total of £9.By now I was about to
leave the items but I called her back and she went to customer services
who confirmed that we were being asked for the wrong amount.
The Customer Service girl said that she already knew of this error and
did a transaction at her terminal to produce a bill for £8.
I said that Tesco would have given me the items for nothing. Not here
she said. I put my hand out expectantly for my change from £20 that she
had forgotten about. She hands me £11!
