Post by Brian Reay Has anyone any recommendations for juice extractors, specifically to make fresh orange juice from whole oranges, please?
I use a Magimix juicer - but it requires you to halve each orange and then juice each half individually. It works quite well. I had a whole orange juicer a while back (sorry can't remember the brand) but I didn't like the juice - it was very bitter because of the pith and zest that was crushed up.

Thank you, I can imagine including the pith world taint the flavour. I like orange juice with bits but those are just the parts you normally eat chopped up as far as I know.

Yes, mine did that and I have never bothered since.

I use a juicer very similar to this one https://tinyurl.com/y3sqgotr Cheap, easy to clean and very effective. Malcolm
My Kenwood one arrived yesterday and we tried it this morning. Perfect! Around 5 large Oranges to give about 500ml of juice, just right for two.
Good!
If you make marmalade it's also very useful. Of course you get the juice, plus the separated pips and other 'bits' leaving the skin ready prepared for shredding.

Interesting, although my current favourite topping for toast is ginger preserve.
I’ve tried to make marmalade in the past, with mixed results.
I like grapefruit marmalade but need to watch how much grapefruit I consume- apparently something in grapefruit can interact with one of my medications. I allow myself a glass of grapefruit juice every now and then as a treat.
