Has anyone seen a Victoria Plum in the supermarkets this year? We have
searched in vain. A couple of years ago they did not have them and the
press highlighted it and suddenly they were awash with them.
I'm sure when we had a garden in Surrey we were eating ours by the end
of August. Wiki says mid September.

Much too late, ours (we had *lots* this year) were ripe in August and
gone well before the end of the month.

I live in Scotland and haven't seen any, but we spend a fair amount of time
in N.Yorks and have seen plenty here! There is a shop in High Street,
Northallerton, which displays fruit and veg outside and there were plenty of
Victorias today!

We are in Sussex next to the Garden of England but they seem not to
cross the county line. We may need to go to Ashford (the Kent one )
later in the week we will look there.

Not in the supermarket, but there has been a glut of VP's in west
Scotland gardens this year, friends have given us pounds and pounds.
We've had stewed plums, plum clafoutis, etc and I've made two big
batches of plum chutney.

This week my local greengrocer had damsons, another 'interesting' type
of plum.
