We have received some bottles of Waitrose wine for a gift. They have
twist off tops. So far four people have proved too weak to break the
seals. My wife has just taken a bottle back to see if Waitrose staff
are super strong.

I find that they won't crack sometimes. Try tightening them first.

With the tougher ones, I wrap my hand around the entire aluminium cap,
i.e., the top and its extension down the neck of the bottle. I twist the
whole thing and that releases the cap that can then be unscrewed.

Try holding the top under hot running water and try again.

The Waitrose people couldn't open the bottle either. They gave my wife
the money back and a new bottle of her choice.

Look at the cap, where cap meets the ring which stays on the bottle. You
should see (usually) 4 thin bits of metal which join the cap to the
ring. Carefully cut them with a knife.

The cap will usually then come off. If not, use a cloth soaked in hot
water the warm the cap.
