Agreed!
Like both of you, I prefer usenet - but some of the closed and 'secret'
groups on FB aren't bad.

I went on FB once at the request of another poster on rfc! I didn't like it
and never went back.

It's improved a wee bit since then.
It took me a few years to sign up, and I still prefer Usent-as-was, but...

That's the same experience as me. I am on Facebook because I can't get
off it. I get a few email messages every day from people I've never
heard of who want to be my friend! I used to answer them with an
appropriate comment but now I can't be bothered.

I've turned off most notifications, and ignore friend requests from
people I've never heard of.

I used to get those but never responded and now I can't remember the last
time I got one.
Incidentally, I suppose I am still on FB because I wouldn't know how to off
but since I have forgotten my pw I couldn't use it if I wanted to either:))

ps .. I don't!

I googled how to get off FB and the instructions worked. You MUST stay
off FB for a couple of weeks otherwise you are automatically reinstated.
In fact, AFAIK, they keep all your records so if you weaken and log on
at a much later date, you'll be reinstated.
It's a bloody nuisance but some newspapers over here use FB as a legal
firewall so that you can't respond to one of their articles unless you
are on it.
