Discussion:
Fussell's vs Nestlé condensed milk (banoffi pie)
(too old to reply)

Cannot find Fussell's (OK, have not tried very hard) but did find Nestlé
(spit). On their can, they suggest caramelising it in an open saucepan, and
in just a few minutes! Now, where's the fun in that? So, has anyone seen
Fussell's recently?

Sadly, my Hungry Monk cookery book does not say I cannot use Nestlé (spit)
but I'd rather not.

I always search for an alternative to N***** but for condensed milk can
never find it.

Fussells is, in fact, a subsidiary of Nestle

See http://www.babymilkaction.org/pages/products.html

I feel really guilty for this, like I'm personally responsible, so I'm just
going to apologise and wander off now.....

Well, let's hope someone else comes up with a product, or failing that, a
recipe to make sweetened condensed milk in a tin :-(
I cannot believe Nestlé (spit) have a monopoly on authentic Banoffi pie.

We use whatever *condensed* milk we can find. I *think* it was Fussels
from Morrisons. I read the stupid instructions about caramelizing in an
open pan last time, it said there was a risk of the can bursting if you
boil it. No doubt the lawyers <spit> insisted on the new recipe. We
boiled the can in the normal way, and it did not burst
