Urgent! In jam making, which side of waxed disc is the WAXED side? Shiny side or dull side?

I simply CANNOT find an answer anywhere. All the recipes say, place a
waxed disc on top of the jam, waxed side down, but they never say
WHICH side is the waxed side!

I've got my discs. They have a shiny side and a dull side.

I'm just about to start chopping up/de-stoning the plums...

I put the shiny side down if using them - but if you're reusing jam jars
with a decent metal lid - you don't need the disks at all - they are
mainly for use when you use those cellophane circles & a rubber band.
