I think I've read in the past that Graham lives in Edmonton? If not
just ignore this. Otherwise, there's an article in The Guardian which
includes the food scene in Edmonton https://tinyurl.com/y59gexwp Does
it summarise things accurately?

Thanks for the article but I live in Calgary and there's always a
competition between the 2 cities. It would be churlish to list the
advantages of Calgary over Edmonton but suffice it to say that the
Economist has (for several years) put Calgary in the top 5 of the
world's best cities in which to live.

We have a similar food scene with popular "Farmers'" markets and coffee
bars but since the downturn in the oil industry, which also affected
Edmonton, restaurants are not faring so well. Local sourcing is
thankfully becoming fashionable, after all, the Province is a major beef
and grain producer. However, with our climate, we still have to import
fresh fruit and vegetables during the winter. The temperature hit -20C a
week or so ago and another snowfall is due tonight:-(
